The Tale of the Bald-Faced Hornet Crew ☂️
The year was 1992, and excitement was in the air as members ofTri Delta Sorority prepared for their homecoming game at the University of Texas in Austin.
This year’s theme for the weekend party was "Taming the Wild," and the girls thought it would be a blast to create costumes inspired by the enormous, scary bald-faced hornets' nest that had just been removed from the backyard of the sorority house.
They wanted to add a playful twist to the chilling discovery of the humongous nest that had been haunting some of their dreams.
With creativity in full swing, the group assembled their outfits and accessorized with umbrellas and striking red heels.
Jenny, the gang’s talented photographer, suggested they venture out into the countryside to capture some memorable photos before the night’s festivities.
The result? A collection of gems that have since become legendary in house lore, known as "The Bald-Faced Hornet Crew" or BFHC for short.
To this day, on homecoming weekend, the sorority throws the wildly popular BFHC party, hailed as the best celebration in town.
Many of the original crew members attend and are treated like celebrities!
